Timber & Rust is bringing together student artists and teachers to create something lasting in Woodland Park. This community mural project celebrates artistic talent, craftsmanship, and collaboration. Whether you're a student artist ready to make your mark or a teacher looking to inspire your students, this is your chance to paint a legacy.

About the Project

Participating Schools

This project brings together talented student artists from:

- Colorado Springs Christian School (grades 7–12)

- Merit Academy (grades 9–12)

- Woodland Park High School (grades 9–12)

Each school can nominate up to 4 students.

Who Can Participate?

We're looking for students who demonstrate:

- Artistic talent and interest

- Strong craftsmanship and attention to detail

- Ability to paint clean lines and follow design guidelines

- Good academic standing and regular attendance

- Patience, respect for others, and willingness to follow the lead artist's direction

What You'll Do

During the painting sessions, you'll:

- Work alongside other student artists

- Help bring a professional mural design to life

- Learn from Stephanie Jacobs, the lead artist

- Paint on a real wall in Woodland Park

- Be part of creating something your community will see and celebrate for years to come

Painting Schedule

Thursday, October 8: 4:45 PM – 6:30 PM

Friday, October 9: 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM

Saturday, October 10: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM

Sunday, October 11: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM

Weather Note: If weather prevents painting, makeup days will be scheduled and communicated to all participants.

30-Minute Slots: You can sign up for one or more 30-minute painting slots. We work on an honor system—please respect the 6-painter-per-slot guideline to ensure everyone gets quality painting time.

What to Bring & What We Provide

WHAT TO BRING

- Yourself and your enthusiasm!

- Comfortable clothing you don't mind getting paint on

- Closed-toe shoes (paint splatter)

- Water bottle

- Sunscreen and hat (October sun, outdoor work)

- Any personal meds or inhalers you need

WHAT TIMBER & RUST PROVIDES

- All paint and painting supplies

- Brushes and rollers

- Professional guidance from lead artist Stephanie Jacobs

- A safe, organized work area

- Snacks and water

- A chance to be part of something meaningful

Note: Ladders may be used for the mural. Ground-level painting opportunities are always available for everyone. You're responsible for your own transportation to the site.
